  • Presentations by Federal Agency Representatives on Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention, Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes Programs, Policies and Regulatory Changes
  • Presentations on ways to be proactive rather than reactive in presenting childhood lead poisoning, increasing lead hazard control activities and reducing incidents of asthma and other unhealthy housing condition

Two Concurrent Educational Tracks

Track #1: Lead Poisoning Prevention and Lead Hazard Control Issues

  • Lead in drinking water: what have we learned and what actions can be taken
  • Helping tenants navigate when dealing with their landlords
  • Non-residential sources of lead poisoning, including home remedies, cookware, spices and products

Track #2: Healthy Housing and Healthy Buildings Issues Focusing on Indoor Air Quality

  • Reducing asthma incidents through education and outreach
  • Using community health workers to address asthma triggers in the home
  • Physical and environmental issues of aging in place

  •  Strategies for increasing lead poisoning prevention programs at the local level

Track #2: Healthy Housing and Indoor Air Quality Issues

  • Presentation on IPM strategies and low-cost methods of bed bug eradication.
  • Presentation on smoke-free housing and how to get landlords to buy in
  • Presentation on radon detection and remediation

General Session

  • Potential Restored: Changing the developmental trajectory of lead-exposed children through Early Intervention
  • Collaborating with local fire departments to engage in safe and healthy housing inspection programs
  • Special presentation on “keep on keeping on: the importance of being engaged in childhood lead poisoning prevention, lead hazard control and healthy housing programs”
